Made by Locals, for People Who Hate Tourist Traps
We're not a tourism board. We're not influencers visiting for the weekend. We actually live here — downtown, near Forsyth — and this guide is exactly what we wish we had on our first trip to Savannah.
It's built for travelers who care less about top-10 lists and more about how a place actually feels. We'll show you where to stay (yes, including our own rentals), where to grab a coffee worth the walk, and which bar makes the city's best Old Fashioned.
No crowdsourced fluff. No generic recs. Just the real places we send our own friends — laid out in routes you can actually use.
Plan by Vibe, Not Just Zip Code
Not everyone comes to Savannah for the same reason. Whether you're here to fall in love with someone (or just the city), sip your way through the Historic District, or wander until your feet give out — these self-guided itineraries are built around how you want to feel while you're here.
Rooftop drinks, candlelit dinners, slow strolls through the prettiest squares.
For the architecture lovers, history buffs, and porch appreciators. A walk by Savannah’s most iconic mansions & homes.
A moody, mysterious walk through the actual sites filmed in the movie.
No ghost tours here — just our favorite restaurants, coffee stops, rooftop bites, and all-day indulgence
Where to Stay in Savannah (Without the Guesswork)
As someone who actually lives downtown, I've put together an honest breakdown of Savannah's neighborhoods so you can pick where to base yourself before you book. Not sure where to start? The neighborhood guide takes two minutes and saves hours of blog-scanning.
North Historic District
Louder, livelier, and closest to the riverfront. Expect cobblestone streets, historic hotels, rooftop bars, and lots of tourists — you're right by City Market and River Street, as well as the many shops that line Broughton St.

South Historic District
This is classic Savannah: quiet, charming, and full of the squares the city is known for. Tucked between the Victorian District and the North, it's walkable to everything and ideal for slower mornings and romantic evenings.

Victorian Historic District
A little less polished than the Historic Districts but full of character. Steps from Forsyth and a short walk to Starland — makes this a sweet spot between quiet charm and creative energy.

The Starland Yard District
Artsy, edgy, and full of murals, indie coffee shops, and creative growth. It's not walkable to River Street (Uber that), but perfect if you want to feel like a local in a neighborhood that’s still evolving.

Savannah has several neighborhoods that feel like they belong in different cities — but our favorite is the South Historic District, near Forsyth Park. It blends quiet charm with easy access to everything you came for. Curious what the other areas feel like? We’ve mapped out four of Savannah’s best neighborhoods in our location guide.

Savannah has a mix of street parking, city garages, and paid lots. Near River Street and Bay Street, street parking is typically limited to 2 hours. The Bryan Street and Liberty Street garages are centrally located options. If you're staying in the Historic District, many visitors find they don't need a car at all — Savannah is extremely walkable.

Three days gives you time for coffee walks, historic homes, and rooftop dinners. Two nights works if you want a taste — but we’re warning you: you’ll wish you had one more.

Yes. Tybee Island is about 18 miles east of downtown Savannah — roughly 25 to 30 minutes by car. It makes a great half-day or full-day addition to any Savannah trip, especially in warmer months. There's no direct public transit, so you'll need a car, rideshare, or tour to get there.
