Looking down Gaston Street in Savannah Georgia at night.

Be Our Gaston is Located on One of the Most Beautiful Streets in Savannah’s Historic District and Only One Block from Forsyth Park!

  • First of all, the South and North Historic Districts are both of what people come to visit because the squares, Forsyth Park, landmarks, points of interest, etc reside throughout each of them. There is no one district that is home to a majority. In fact, the entire historic district is only 2 square miles, so you are close to everything whether you’re in the north or the south. Choosing between the two is merely a preference because you will tour both throughout your stay.

  • If you’re coming to Savannah to spend a romantic weekend with your significant other, I would suggest staying in the South Historic District. Long strolls through Forsyth Park and meandering along the historic streets with its beautiful architecture is most easily done on the south side.

Conversely, if you want to hop from bar to bar to bar throughout your trip and you plan to be up really late each night, you might prefer the north side.

  • Of course! The bars near Forsyth Park on the south side of Savannah’s historic district are a bit more upscale, I would say. We have places like Artillery, the Peregrin Rooftop Bar, Savoy Society, etc.

  • Absolutely! In fact, some of absolute favorite restaurants are in the south historic district. Veratina (also has a great bar!), Husk, the Public, Noble Fare, and more.

Ask yourself which you might prefer….

The North Historic District (River St., City Market, etc) is definitely home to more of the chaos. If you want to party until 3:00 AM, you would probably prefer to stay there. This is where the majority of high-rise, brand-name hotels are, as well as bars and lots of 20-somethings out and about until late at night. That being said, it can be really noisy when you’re trying to sleep.

The South Historic District, on the other hand, is a lot quieter — especially at night — because this is where the majority of historic homes are. Without the brand-name, chain hotels and crowds of tourists, it just tends to be a more calm, luxurious area.
