“A Walk in the Park”
Savannah, GA Vacation Rental
Because everyone wants to be near Forsyth, we aptly named this rental “A Walk in the Park.” Only one block away on gorgeous Gaston St, the space itself subtly recreates the vibe of meandering through a parklike setting. As you enter, a huge mural of 19th century park-goers greet you. Fountain water droplets are conveyed through the chandelier and kitchen wall tile, while animals in the park are represented via curtain tie-backs. Everywhere you look, there are subtle hints of this lively environment. And then, in the bedroom, a hand-painted oil replica of Ramon Casas’s “Decadent Young Woman: After the Dance,” depicts a 19th century woman exhausted from her day out.

Reviews
While Google reviews are great (and we have those, too), I love the authenticity of handwritten notes from our guests!

Location
Gaston St. is in fierce competition with Jones for most beautiful street in Savannah! Gaston is unique with its oversized lots, antique sidewalk lampposts, and proximity to the park. Our location puts you merely one block away, and yet accessible to all of the sights and restaurants in the historic district.
-
History
In 1868, houses 202, 204, and 206 E. Gaston were all constructed for Algernon Hartridge, a confederate lieutenant and cotton merchant with notable real estate holdings throughout the historic district.

Amenities
A Walk in the Park is a luxury one-bedroom rental with a full bath and shower, full kitchen, dedicated laundry room, and full living area. It has been appointed with items you’re unlikely to see in other rentals in an effort to ensure an enjoyable and memorable stay!
-
Courtyard
Unlike many rentals in Savannah, you have full access to the courtyard, and what a lovely space it is! After a day of walking and sight-seeing, there is something very calming about sitting in this tranquil haven just listening to the fountain or sitting in the swings.
-
Experience
As opposed to merely providing a space to rest your head, a place to cook and shower, etc, we opted to create an inviting atmosphere that will be as memorable as your walks through our historic city. More details can be found on our “Elevated Rental Experience” page.

Authentic Decor
Sourcing from local antique shops allowed us to decorate A Walk in the Park with original pieces of decor. Rather than mass-produced knick-knacks and artwork, you’ll find actual paintings and truly unique decor items.
A Walk in the Park's romantic and cozy bedroom
A very relaxing space to unwind in after a long day of walking around.
An original oil replica of Ramon Casas's "Decadent Young Woman" hangs above the bed. I chose this to illustrate what it must have been like as a woman after a day of walking in Savannah. Those clothes are heavy, and the temps can get very warm in the summer.
This is the fireplace where servants used to prepare meals.
Bedside night carafe
A lounge chair for reading or your morning coffee
A Frame TV sits above the fireplace, allowing you to choose your own artwork during your stay.
Handpainted mural by local artist, Julia MacGahee, along with our coat-rack/lamppost and swing. Julia painted the entrance to Forsyth to keep with the name of the apartment, "A Walk in the Park."
The park theme is subtly infused with the curtain tiebacks, such as this dog...
And this bird
1868 is the year our house was built, so I had this curtain made for the window in the bedroom door.
Some people are afraid to sit in the swing. "Will it fall?" they ask. "No!" We had the construction crew ensure it could hold up to 600 lbs! It is not going to fall out of the ceiling!
Exposed, original Savannah Gray brick behind our birdcage pendant light. We'll likely expose more brick in the future.
I had this lamppost made to keep with the park theme, and we also added some hooks to it for jackets/purses.
The lamppost creates a romantic ambiance in the evening
The kitchen has ample counter space, a gas stove, and all the amenities for cooking at home.
Savannah's carousel is nowhere near the historic district, but this little guy makes for a nice decoration! In the next year, it will be painted with Savannah landmarks all over it.
Meyer's products
The bathroom has a tub/shower combination with gold, upscale fixtures. We've also imported Dead Sea salt for soaking tired legs.
Want to read a book? Have a glass of wine? These outdoor swings are the perfect spot!
If in season (and if thriving), help yourself to fresh oregano, sage, and thyme, which hang in our courtyard.
A nighttime view of our courtyard, where you can escape to a peaceful oasis.
It's tough to see in this photo, but there are people having picnics....in February! On a sunny day, the blues and greens are truly this vibrant!
Picnics in Forsyth are very popular, which is why we supply you with your very own picnic basket, blanket, dishes, etc! Be like a local!
Many believe Gaston is even more beautiful than Jones, and we'd have to agree. The architecture, the Spanish moss, the colors....
Sunset in Forsyth Park is always stunningly beautiful, and it's merely one block away.
Be sure to select “A Walk in the Park” during the reservation process.
